Podere Pecorino
The wooded hills are filled with deer and wild boar that regularly make a visit to Podere Pecorino. During the late summer and early autumn the area is famous for the large quantities of Porcini and other mushrooms that can be found. Permission to go mushroom hunting can be obtained from the post office in Monticiano. Your host, Manuela, will be happy to explain to you which mushrooms are not edible. Also during the autumn a relaxing activity that can be done is collecting chestnuts and maroons.
The Podere is a perfectly restored old Tuscan farmhouse
with terracotta floors and traditional ceilings of wooden beams and
terracotta tiles. The property is presently divided into 2 individual
apartments. To the back of the little
villa there is another family.
Manuela offers her villas as either individual self catering apartments or rooms with breakfast and dinner served on request. In total the property can sleep 8 people. Should you wish to have dinner, Manuela will provide a typical Tuscan meal with all home grown produce and is delighted to explain the recipes to you, although she does not speak much English.
In front of Podere Pecorino there are stunning views over the vegetable and fruit garden on to the wooded hills in the distance. In the evenings the sun sets over these hills providing some fantastic sunsets while you relax sipping a glass of Tuscan wine.
There are two interconnecting villas with double doors so that you have maximum privacy should you not rent both. Pecorino A is the smaller of the two and can be rented for 2 adults and one child with one bathroom. Pecorino B is the larger Tuscan villa and sleeps up to 6 people, with 2 bathrooms. One of the bedrooms is between the two apartments and therefore can be allocated to one or the other depending on group sizes. From Pecorino B there is also an interconnecting door to the owner's villa however she will not disturb you.
